Dr Georgina Girt
Postdoctoral Research Associate
Georgina is working as a postdoctoral research scientist in the Structural Biology theme, determining kinetics for a new carbon-carbon bond forming enzyme involved in the synthesis of formycin, a C-nucleoside antibiotic.
She completed her BSc, MSc and PhD at the University of Leicester, focusing on bio-organic and peptide chemistry. Before taking her post at the Franklin, Georgina worked at the University of Oxford for two years, creating photoaffinity probes that can be used to determine exactly how bioactive compounds achieve their effects.
