Dr Silvia da Graça Ramos
Senior Research Software Engineer
Silvia is a Senior Research Software Engineer working on the Data Infrastructure at the Rosalind Franklin Institute.
She studied at various universities and holds an undergraduate degree and PhD in Physics Engineering and a MSc degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. After her undergraduate studies, she collaborated in magnetic confinement fusion experiments namely ASDEX Upgrade (Max Planck Institute, Germany), JET (Culham, UK) and TJ-II (CIEMAT, Spain).
More recently, she worked at Diamond Light Source, first as a software engineer in the Data Acquisition Group and later specialising in data management. She was involved as a Data Catalogue Work Package co-leader in the ExPaNDs project collaborating with 10 national Photon and Neutron (PaN) facilities from across Europe. The main objectives of the work package are to provide open data following the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) principles.
