Dr Calina Glynn
Senior Postdoctoral Research Associate
Calina (Callie) is a senior postdoctoral research associate in Dr. Michael Grange’s group focusing on utilizing cryo-focused ion beam milling and cryo-electron tomography to image brain tissue and understand the molecular pathology of disease.
Callie received her Ph.D. from the University of California Los Angeles in Biochemistry, Molecular and Structural Biology. There, she used x-ray crystallography, microED, and single particle cryo-EM to determine structures and features that bestow prion filaments with their unique stability. After completing her Ph.D., Callie joined the Department of Neurology at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital where she used single particle cryo-EM to reconstitute the paired helical filament structures of the protein tau seen in Alzheimer’s Disease using recombinant protein.
