Dr Ivan Lobato

Associate Investigator

Ivan Lobato completed his PhD at the University of Antwerp, with a thesis on accurate modelling of high angle electron scattering. The first years of his postdoctoral research focused on the development of new mathematical models and simulation tools for quantitative description of the electron-specimen interaction. Later, he extended the scope of his research area to include modelling complex physical systems through data analysis, atomic tomography, molecular dynamics, multidimensional data processing, and machine learning.

In 2017 he was awarded the Cosslett Award for the best invited paper presented at Microscopy and Microanalysis with the title “Recent Advances of the Open Source MULTEM Program to Provide Accurate and Fast Electron Microscopy Simulations”.

At the Franklin, Ivan is continuing to develop new computational methods for quantitative electron microscopy.
