About
Piper is a new Research Software Engineer in Advanced Research Computing.
Before joining the Franklin, Piper was a Postdoctoral Researcher at UC San Diego, where he developed methods to simulate transport in organic materials under ultrafast pump-probe microscopy. Prior to this, he completed a PhD in theoretical physics at the University of St Andrews in Scotland.
Piper is passionate about open source software development in science and long-distance cycling, having toured and completed in events throughout Europe and parts of the US.
