Glycosylation’s represents one of the most complex transformations found in nature. Using a newly published glycosylation strategy based on glycosyl radical species, the goal of this project is to employ a reaction platform called the radial synthesizer, alongside machine learning algorithms, to predict the outcomes of these radical Glycosylations and better optimize the reactions for biological applications.
Michael graduated from the University of Cardiff with an integrated Master’s in chemistry. After a year of working at Thermofisher Scientific, his final year thesis focused on merging a borrowing hydrogen methodology with organocatalysis to achieve the stereoselective transfer hydrogenation of allylic alcohols.
